Well for if you guys don't know, I'm currently up at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. They have a powerlifting team up here, which I had no problem walking on to.
To let you know where I've been, I took almost two years off competitive lifting due to a combination of focusing on high school wrestling and a mild knee injury. I just started lifting again in late August and I've had two meets so far.
The first was in late October with Raw United, at 148 I hit a 325 squat, 240 bench, and a 425 deadlift. Overall I was satisfied with my 990 total.
The most recent meet was against Army up at West Point. It was sanctioned by USAPL and was all single-ply. I took second out of four at 148 behind a fellow Navy lifter with an 1130 total. I hit a 425 squat, 275 bench, and a 430 deadlift. My bench didn't even show up (hit my opener and scratched the last attempt after missing 290, I wanted 315) and I could've went heavier on deadlift, but played it conservatively to make sure I beat the Army guy, who had an 1125 total.
Training for USAPL Collegiate Nationals in Baton Rouge, LA now. My goal is to place top three, which I think will require around a 1280 total. It's going to be a lot of work, but I think if I keep training in the gear I'll get better. I've only been in it for about two months now and my lifts are steadily increasing. No signs of plateauing yet.
Anyway, just letting yall know that I didn't completely fall off the face of the powerlifting world. I hope everyone is doing well and staying healthy.
